While the snow fell and all was still in the Howe, the energy group was beavering away on its projects. Some new ones generated by the Community Survey results, like the Community Renewables bid, others are part of the CaRB programme, like distributing free Smart Monitors.
The Community Renewables bid is our latest Carbon Climate Fund application. We are looking to get funds to allow a feasibility study into a number of energy areas including Firewood supply, a District Heating System, Wind turbine possibilities and a partnership project with Fife region to use methane and heat produced at the local landfill site. We hope to have more information on this application in the Spring.
The CaRB team and our partner organisations have been busy creating a special ‘Toolkit’ of options that will give every householder in the area a chance to become more informed about what energy improvement / carbon reduction measures they would like to use on the property. This is a unique document specially produced for our area. The Toolkit is at the printers at time of press and will be with you soon.
In terms of work on the ground the newly appointed Energy Champions have been delivering Smart Monitors. People signed up during the survey for one month periods of monitoring their homes energy use. If you have not got yours yet that may be because demand was higher than we anticipated, but we will get to you. If you wish to sigh up for one, contact Louise and we will put you on our list.
The Champions have recently passed their City & Guilds training in Energy Awareness and will soon be ready to visit your home to provide you with energy saving advice & information.
The best way to book an appointment will be to attend our Toolkit launch, coming to a village hall near you soon.
