Out of the hall and up to the Green for the Opening

The Grand Opening Event took place on Sunday 1st July in Letham Village Hall with lots of free activities for local people. Dave’s Bike Shed provided a Dr Bike service to give a free fix up for bikes – 14 folk took advantage of this. Spokes of St Andrews lent a demonstration electric bike, and many people took advantage to give it a test up the School Brae, which it passed with flying colours. Some great bike related prizes were to be found at the free tombola.
At 3pm the assembled company moved up to the Green where Roderick Campbell MSP put the finger sign into the post, officially opening the paths. A walk down the new path to the new foot bridge at Cunnoquhie Burn turned out rather wet with a heavy shower, however this did not dampen enthusiasm for the good looking bridge built by a group of trainees working with bridgebuilder Malcolm Strong.
Lots of people from the community gave their time to make the event happen, including producing some great homemade cakes. Thanks to everyone for that.
The Event also attracted visitors from other parts of Fife too. Thanks to Joan and her group from Sustainable Cupar who cycled out to join us, and to others who biked from as far afield as Dunfermline and Tayport.
The Event was funded by Leader Fife and Fife Environment Trust.
