NHTT Wins Scottish Green Award

Tom recently attended he Scottish Green Awards in Glasgow where he was delighted and slightly surprised to recieve the Scottish Green award for Best Community Initiative on behalf of the NHTT, ‘we were delighted to be chosen as finalists and are staggered to have won the award. There are a lot of community groups doing great things in Scotland just now and the competition was really very strong, but it’s great to have national recognition for what so many in our community have

achieved.’

Tom receives our award in Glasgow earlier in the month

Dr Richard Dixon, Director of WWF Scotland and chair of the judging panel for the Scottish Green Awards said:

“I and the other judges were particularly impressed with the comprehensive approach taken by NHTT to making their area more sustainable. From energy use to transport and food the group have had great ideas and followed them through over the last 2 years. North Howe Transition Toun provide a superb example of how even a small community can start to get to grips with what climate change and high oil prices will bring.”

I think there is cause for us all to be proud for our contribution over the passed few years and look forward to continuing to work together for a more sustainable future for our community.

Dr Bike (Daves bike Shed Aberdour) will be at the Letham Coffee Morning in the Village Hall on

Saturday 8th October 1000-1200

doing FREE checks on all Letham bikes to:

check tyres and inflate if necessary;
check steering and seating;
put bike onto the workstand;
check the operation of brakes and gears and make minor adjustments.

This will get your bike safe and on the road again and ready for use on the new cycle routes currently being built around the NHTT area. For work requiring parts special Letham prices apply…

Gardeners Swap Shop

On Sunday 18th September 2-4 p.m. at Giffordtown Village Hall, the hall committee are running a gardeners’ swap shop. Just bring along any garden surplus; veg, fruit. herbs,flowers and negotiate a deal for whatever you can negotiate.

Pizza Night In Collessie Hall

One of Jean's delicous pizzas enjoyed at a recent bakery meeting!

On Friday 9th September The Doorstep Bakery gang will be turning their hands to pizza making at a fundraising evening in Collessie Hall. Bookings are essential with things kicking off from 6.30pm onwards.

We will be offering garlic bread, pizza and salad for £10 or £25 for a family ticket which will give you garlic bread, 3 pizzas and salad. BYOB, juice provided for kids. We will be offering 5 varieties, hopefully something to suit all tastes!

It is sure be a fun evening so get in touch with Louise as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Collessie Gala 19 June

Collessie’s annual Gala Day will be held on Sunday 19 June in Collessie Park from 2-4pm. It is always a great afternoon out for all the family with entertainment including a bouncy castle, kids races, BBQ, home baking & book & plant stalls, local jams and raffle.
Admission includes tea & scones (but not castle. Sorry!)
Adults:£2 Children: £1 Organised by Collessie Victory Hall Committee in aid of upkeep of Hall

The Transport Group will be there so if you fancy finding out more about the paths project then Crispin will be on hand for a chat. The Doorstep Bakery gang will be there with some freshly made bread. We will also see the return of the NHTT tombola with cakes a plenty and some bike related prizes on offer this year. See you there!

Letham Park Earth Shelter

We are delighted that the clay building will soon be starting on the new shelter in Letham Park. Last year NHTT successfully applied for £10,000 from The Lottery’s Awards for All to support the project in partnership with the community and Secret Garden Outdoor Nursery. The stone foundations were built in early autumn last year and now that the weather is improving plans are being made for the next stage which will be carried out by local specialists Little and Davie. There will be a presentation by Becky Little on Wednesday 11 May at 7.30pm in Letham Village Hall. On Saturday 14th you can come along and get some hands on experience from 1-4pm. Expect to get mucky! For more information get in touch with Louise or keep an eye on the website.

Letham Nights- A Right Royale Bevvy

All who attended the Big Event had a fantastic time so a big thank for coming along. The kids are still enthusing about the work they did with Moving Sounds and we hope to have a video online soon.
