I contacted Transition North Howe and Fife a while ago to share what I have found out about growing perennial vegetables and I wanted to let you know that I have now written a book that gives full descriptions of the project and how other people can do something similar. It is called “Edible Perennial Gardening” and information about it is available on the Permanent Publications website.

I live in the West Midlands of the UK, where (probably like you) we have had very variable and extreme weather over recent years. Despite these difficult conditions I have found perennial veggies are generally very hardy and resilient. They also need very little attention and take remarkably little time and effort. Therefore I believe that they are a very useful addition to any garden or allotment.
