Contribution in Kind

March 11th, 2010

Our members and volunteers are our most valuable resource and time spent on projects and at events is a great way to demonstrate the committement of our community to current and future funders. It is therefore important that the time is recorded.

It would be great if you could send a note of any voluntary time you spend on NHTT projects, whether it be painting signs, attending meetings or baking cakes for one of our events. Please use the below basic format to total numbers and return to Louise.

Energy Group March Meeting

March 4th, 2010

The Energy Group will be holding their next meeting in Collessie Hall on Monday 8 March at 7.30pm. We will be looking back at what has been a very busy month with smart monitor distribution and the three toolkit launches. The CaRB project is moving into a new phase where we are looking to give practical support to local people in making the energy saving changes they would like to make to their homes. Our four Energy Champions will be out and about visiting homes to discuss the options in our toolkit. If you don’t want to wait for them to contact you, then please get in touch with Louise who will put you in touch with your personal Energy Champion. If you missed the launch events and would like your thermal image they will also bring this along on their visit.

Looking forward, we have Climate Challenge Fund bids in for a Community Renewable Feasibility Study and the Low Carbon Village Hall Project, so potentially exciting times ahead for the energy group. If you would like to find out more then come along on Monday night.

Local Food Group News

March 4th, 2010

The February Local Food Group meeting hosted a screening of the film ‘In Transition’ . The film gives an excellent background to the transition movement and is full of lots of positive examples of community action. Inspired by this the group then began to discuss the direction in which we are moving. As a result it was decided that at the next meeting, on 23 March at 7.30pm in Letham Village Hall,  we would explore this further so will be taking some time to look at where we want to be in the future and working out what steps we need to take to get to that place. The Food Group also have lots of ongoing CCF projects such as Garden Compost Supplies and Bakehouse feasibility to discuss so it should be an interesting meeting.  More information and Agenda will follow soon.

Your Piece Baking Company uses Fife Grown Oats

March 1st, 2010

Fife based speciality food brand Your Piece Baking Company have announced  that they have introduced the use of Fife grown oats in the production of their products. “Oat processing in the UK is rather consolidated and it was quite a challenge to isolate a source of Fife grown oats. I think it was worth the effort as we have an excellent oat growing climate here in The Kingdom.” Explained Dan Connolly of Your Piece Baking Company.
As of the 1st March Your Piece Baking Company’s Handmade Oatcakes and Oatmeal Shortbread will be made with Fife oats and they will be offering large bags of Fife grown porridge oats and medium ground oatmeal too.
